This great drink has gotten the name Rumplestiltskin, not sure why but in any case enjoy!
(This versatile recipe is nourishing enough as breakfast, delicious enough as dessert and light enough as a late-night snack. It is easily digested, contributes to a good night’s sleep and keeps your intestines healthy. )
6 Tbsp (90 ml) flax seeds
2 cups (500 ml) milk
2 Tbsp (30 ml) hazelnuts, ground
1 banana, mashed with a fork
1 Tbsp (15 ml) honey
Juice from 1 orange
1 apple, peeled, cored and diced
Pulse flax seeds in an electric coffee grinder for two seconds. Bring milk to a boil then stir in the flax. Boil for 30 seconds, remove from heat then pour into a bowl and let cool. This mixture will have the consistency of pudding. Add nuts, banana, honey and orange juice. Whisk vigorously or blend on lowest speed in a blender. Fold in apple and serve.
Variation one: When served as dessert, top with whipping cream and strawberries or kiwis—a heavenly concoction.
Variation two: Add finely chopped dried and soaked fruits such as dates, raisins, prunes or pineapples.
It’s important to freshly grind flax seeds to ensure their delicate oils remain intact. To grind your own, place up to four tablespoons (60 ml) of seeds in an electric coffee grinder. For cracked flax, grind for two seconds only; for fine flax meal, grind for six seconds. Serves four.
Make it a great day!

Weight Watchers for weight loss?
Weight Watchers for weight loss?
By Chris Walker Fitness Professional
100% Hardcore Truth
Weight Watchers has been around for a long time, they use a point system that teaches you how to make good food choices. Weight Watchers has a few good things going, they encourage, about six meals at regular intervals. They encourage good food combinations, lean proteins, starchy carbohydrates and fibrous carbohydrates but when you break it all down behind all the points it's still calorie deprivation. The women involved in Weight Watchers still return time and again to gather around the scale to see if they lost any weight. They offer each other moral support and celebrate the loss of a few pounds. I haven't seen Weight Watchers to be a permanent solution for weight loss, in fact if you visit the what's new section of my website you'll find a settlement document from FTC regarding Weight Watchers and fraudulent claims. You know, I disagree with the whole point system and here's why. I counseled this lady on nutrition and I was trying to educate her on food and making good choices but all she kept on talking about are theses points. She was unable to make good food choices without her reference to points. She didn't really understand what she was doing when it came to eating. She didn't understand how to combine a simple meal without the point system she was somewhat dependant on Weight Watchers.....hmmm does the giant weight loss chain foster an environment of dependency. I don't think Weight Watchers is all that bad, meaning I don't cringe in my seat when someone says I'm on the Weight Watchers program. I just fail to see Weight Watchers as a permanent weight loss solution. Calorie deprivation leads to a slowed metabolism and a slowed metabolism perpetuates weight gain. If you participated in the Weight Watchers program and managed to keep the weight off, fantastic, but the only thing that will bring permanent weight loss is synergy. Good nutrition, a concern for muscle and a moderate amount of aerobics.
Weight Watchers history
Back in the early 60's, Weight Watchers founder Jean Nidetch began inviting friends into her Queens home once a week, to discuss how best to lose weight. Today, that group of friends has grown to millions of women and men around the world who use the products and services of Weight Watchers to lose unwanted pounds. Weight Watchers has been around for over 40 years. In the early Weight Watchers program the diet was marketed as a lifestyle change claiming that you can eat anything, proteins, fats, carbohydrates, sugar, as long as you follow the point system although it was still calorie deprivation it wasn't as drastic as other diets. The new Weight Watchers program has since modified their approach, perhaps making it a little better but dieters participating in the program still fail to see a permanent pay off.
The Point System
To understand the point system let's first look at the origin of the point system. When Weight Watchers first began it created an "exchange" system you were allotted a certain number of fruit exchange, a certain number of bread exchange and so on per day. The exchanges were based on portion control that limited the amount of calories one ingested daily. The program still encouraged you to eat real food. The Weight Watchers program grew in popularity and they decided to introduce weight watchers foods to increase profit margins. Now you were paying for support as well as food. The exchange system allowed for snacking as well as long as you met the daily exchange requirement. The exchange system has since been replaced with "points", the same concept. Every food item is now given a certain number of points based on it's protein, fat, fiber content and so on. There are different programs you can choose from within the point system, so you can choose which point system will work for you.
Conclusion
Weight Watchers sees approximately 600,000 people per week, that being said if this was a permanent weight loss solution we would have seen a dent in our obesity percentage. The fact of the matter is the premise of Weight Watchers is still based on calorie restriction, which leads to a slowed metabolism. Weight Watchers may have helped some people but the majority of it's customers are repeat business. People who blamed themselves because they felt they couldn't stick to the diet, but nobody can stick to a deprivation diet because your body is intelligent and will force you to eat food for it's survival. Like I said before I don't cringe at the mention of Weight Watchers but I'm failing to see their point system as a long term solution. The only solution Ladies and gentlemen is synergy.

Herbal Magic for Weight Loss? No, No, No!
It's time to blow the whistle on Herbal Magic too many people are being duped into believing that this is the way to go for weight loss! I've had countless people complain, telling me that some Herbal Magic counsellor said that they shouldn't exercise if they want to lose weight!!! What!! Ladies and gents is this for real, people are complaining to me how horrible they feel on the herbal magic program, how they're starving all the time and how they have frequent headaches trying to lose weight the Herbal Magic way but don't just take my word for it read this email below that a past client of Herbal Magic sent me.
First, you should probably be aware that I've been dieting since I was eleven years old. I'm thirty four now and tired of "trying something new" every few years just to get back on track. I did weight watchers for years with some success and most recently was a client of Herbal Magic. I had great success with Herbal Magic and lost close to 40 lbs however by the end I was very frustrated with their plan. They had me on 1000 calories a day and when I stopped losing weight, they tried selling me more pills. It was extremely expensive and I grew very disenchanted with the "counselors". I was a fiend about measuring my portions, eating very little sodium, drinking tons of water and not snacking.
Sadly it didn't last. I love food - I love to cook and this program didn't allow for any of that. I was even told not to exercise and when I asked for extra calories so that I could exercise they refused to alter the program. I was starving all the time, bitchy and I stopped doing it ultimately.
It's been a year since I last went and I have gained back 30 of the 40 lbs I lost. I am not happy with how I feel and how I look and I want a program, without pills, with exercise that I can stick to. I want something reasonable that works with my hectic lifestyle.
Now, I understand how someone can fall for this program. I completely get the mindset. Someone who has tried to lose weight for, say 15 years, is very desperate to lose weight, in fact, so desperate that they throw all rational and common sense out the window. They know the weight loss journey they're embarking on won't be permanent but they justify their actions by saying to themselves, it will all be worth it to look good for a while, even if its not permanent.
Even if I'm skinny for only a little while, at least I'll be happy for a little while.
Ladies and gents this can all end today! Permanent weight loss is not something magical or mysterious on the contrary it's very attainable, it's so close, if only you would put the right weight loss strategy in place.
The thing is people are impatient, they live unhealthy, junk food lives for, let's say, 10 years or more and want to undo all the damage they've done in just 8 short weeks.
So listen, here's the permanent weight loss formula without the magic!
Permanent weight loss requires resistance training, moderate cardio and good nutrition. That doesn't mean starving and maintaining a 800 calorie diet nor does it mean popping so called all natural weight loss supplements and being called as the staff at Herbal Magic would say a "Lifer".
Please understand there is no magic in Herbal Magic and all the damage you do to your body trying to obtain weight loss the easy way will eventually have to be undone if you want to live a healthy life at a body weight you desire.
So, before you get suckered in to the sales staff at Herbal Magic, give me a shout for free advice on how to get the body you desire.
Make it a great day!

Procrastination!
“Procrastination is the fear of success. People procrastinate because they are afraid of the success that they know will result if they move ahead now. Because success is heavy, carries a responsibility with it, it is much easier to procrastinate and live on the 'someday I'll' philosophy.”

Did you know that Google has its own calorie counter? The Google Calorie Counter, found at http://www.google.com/ig/
allows you to track your calories and manage your meals quickly and easily. You use the Google Calorie Counter with your iGoogle custom web page.
There are many reasons to use a running calorie counter. For one thing, it keeps tabs on how much you have already eaten so that you can ration out your remaining calories and stay on your diet. For another thing, it clues you into how many, or in rare cases, how few, calories are in a given item of food.
There are a number of programs both on the web and off that let you count your calories. Many pieces of online software let you keep a daily journal. And, PDAs and the iPhone have applications that let you do the same thing even when you are offline.
What sets the Google Calorie Counter apart is that it sits right on your iGoogle home page. So, if you use iGoogle, it can be a good option for you. You won’t have to carry around a machine or log into a separate site.
You will, however, have to use iGoogle which is a bit clunky. If you have more than a handful of apps, iGoogle can be very slow loading. And, if you don’t have a variety of widgets, there’s not a whole lot of point to iGoogle, so it’s a catch-22.
Further, the Google Calorie Counter is difficult to use. There’s no search function. While it includes all kinds of foods including common recipes and popular brands, you have to physically scroll through the letter of the alphabet that the item falls into.
Once you have found the item, you select it and it goes into your meal. You can select main dishes, sides, garnishes, deserts and more for each meal.
Another problem with the Google Calorie Counter is that it only has the three main meals. Many dieters take the advice to eat five or six small meals rather than a big breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There is a “misc.” category that can cover snacks, but the program is rather inflexible.
There is a feature called “Settings” that lets you put in your gender, age, weight, height, and activity level. It will then give you a “daily amount” to target. As you add foods to the counter, you will be told how many of your daily allotment of calories you’ve used.
The Google Calorie Counter is useful for dieters who already use iGoogle. It has a simple, albeit klunky, interface. The constant reminder of how many calories you have left may force you to modify diet choices later in the day.
However, for most people, there are better alternatives to the Google Calorie Counter. If you use a PDA or iPhone regularly, the apps for those devises will probably suit you better and you won’t have to be connected to a computer to use them. If you don’t use iGoogle already, the Google Calorie Counter is no reason to start. Instead, check out the myriad of food journals and calorie counters available elsewhere on the web.
Make it a great day!

How To Use The Subway Calorie Counter
One of the reasons that Subway Calorie Counter is looked up so many times each day is because the sandwich chain has marketed itself as a healthy solution to fast food. You can go into any Subway Sandwich shop and have one of seven 6 inch sandwiches made in less than 5 minutes that has 350 or fewer calories and 6 or fewer grams of fat.
The sandwich options include: ham, turkey, ham and turkey, veggie delight, oven roasted chicken breast, roast beef and the turkey club. At 370 calories, the hot Sweet Onion Teriyaki chicken sandwich just misses the mark, but still comes in at just 5 grams of fat.
That’s not to say that you can eat anything you want at the restaurant. The Subway calorie counter clearly shows that some sandwiches are off limits for dieters. For instance, the 6 inch tuna sub has 530 calories and 31 grams of fat – and that’s before you add any extra mayonnaise.
Subway’s hot sandwiches can also be diet killers. The 6 inch Toasted Bacon and Chicken Ranch, Toasted Chicken Parmesan, and Toasted Meatball Marinara all have more than 500 calories and the meatball sub has 24 grams of fat.
But the hot sandwiches aren’t the only diet busters. Double the size and you double the calories. The only two sandwich sizes at Subway are 6 inch and 12 inch. The foot long sandwiches all have twice as many calories.
Another pitfall to watch for on the Subway calorie counter is the double meat or double cheese options on any sandwich. The double meat turkey has 340 calories versus only 280 in the regular version.
The kind of bread you choose to have your sandwich made on can also affect the number of calories. The default 6 inch Italian (white) bread has 190 calories by itself. But, the deluxe breads, like Honey Oat and Parmesan Oregano can increase that by 50-60 calories by itself.
Adding cheese also increases the calories. While cheese comes standard on the sandwiches without an extra charge, it is represented separately on the Subway calorie counter. Cheese adds 40 to 50 calories per six inches.
Some condiments like mustard barely register in terms of calories. Others, like mayonnaise can pack on 110 calories for a normal serving.
When you look at the Subway calorie counter, you’ll find that the breakfast sandwiches are no diet bargain which range from 270 to 510 calories. Your best bet is either the egg and cheese on a deli roll or a honey mustard and ham on a deli roll. Stay away from the Chipitole Steak and Cheese on a 6 inch roll breakfast sandwich.
Keep in mind that there’s more on the menu than sandwiches as well. Chips, cookies, and sugary sodas will all add calories to your meal. Fortunately, Subway features the Baked Lays brand of chips which can have as few as 110 calories in a serving.
Use the Subway calorie counter to help you plan a healthy lunch or dinner at this fast food spot that is friendly for dieters.
Make it a great day!

A Fitness Funny for you!
I had myself a belly
That hung way past my belt.
I ate my fruits and veggies
But nothing seemed to help.
I went out in the mornings
For stretches and a run
All I got was sweat and pain
For all the work I'd done.
I went and bought a DVD
That promised help for me
But working out turned useless
And twisted up my knee.
I joined a fitness class
Yoga was the theme
Now my leg can twist around
To rub my back for me.
Yes I'm feeling better
I only eat what's best
I seem to be more healthy
While weighing so much less.
Two last things I need
I consider only fair
To freeze the hands of time
or grow a head of hair.
Make it a great day!

Weight loss tips for the weary!
For many people dieting and more specifically keeping the weight lost off can be a nightmare, the reason for this is usually because many of the diets that people choose are too limited or the person doesn't change their lifestyle once the desired weight has been reached and falls back into their old routine. Here are some tips to help those that are feeling a little weary, stick to their diet and maintain their weight.
Stick to an exercise routine
Exercising not only plays an important role in helping you to lose weight but also in maintaining your weight once you have reached your desired goal. You should aim to exercise for at least 30 minutes everyday for 5 out of the 7 days of the week, however this doesn't have to all be done at once, the effects are still the same if you split this into 3 lots of 10 minutes of exercise per day. Finding a form of exercise that you particularly enjoy is essential if you are to stick with it in the long term; another option is joining a gym and working out with friends to give each other the encouragement when the going gets a little tough.
Keep a food journal
Keeping a written account of what you eat, when you eat and how many calories the meal was is a good way to make you more self-aware of conscious of what you eat and how it affects you. It can help you to realize the size of portions in relation to how many calories it contains and helps you to make the changes needed in the future to successfully keep the weight you have lost off for good.
Join a support group
Joining a support group such as weight watchers can often be a huge help for those struggling with their diet and needing support and encouragement, the beauty of groups such as these is that everyone is in the same boat. You are more likely to stick to a regime if you have support and the weekly meetings are an excellent way to get you going again and give you a much needed boost.
Take a good look at yourself
Very often we eat not because we are hungry but out of boredom, anxiety, loneliness or some similar emotion, emotional eating is common and very often we can do it without even realizing it. Take a good look at yourself and your eating habits particularly if you are eating between meals, this is usually the time when most people "comfort" eat. If you think your problem lies with emotional eating then take steps to alter your behavior by learning new behavioral skills.
Portion size
Be aware of the size of portions that you are eating, it is surprising how many calories are in meals, for example many fast food restaurants now offer super size meals and the calories content in these can be half or more of the total calorie count allowable for your day if you are on a calorie controlled diet.
Make it a great day!

Back to Basics: Why You Need To Drink Water!
Not only is the planet earth ¾ water, we can also say the same thing on all living things. Every human being and animal have water in their body. They need water to survive. By not having water for days, these can have a side effect on their body and mind functions.
Out of all the nutrients, water is the most important of them all. Even a camel may not be able to survive if not allowed to have a single drop for months and months and months.
Water flushes the unwanted toxins in your body. When you’re taking a shower, soap cleanses your body and water flushes everything out, right? That’s exactly how it goes with taking in water. Water carries out all the waste from your organs and your cells.
Water is the main component in the blood. It is a second circulatory system and is also the juices in the digestive system. If it weren’t for water, you wouldn’t be able to digest properly.
As disgusting as it may sound, water is also the main ingredient of your urine and your sweat. How ironic it is that it’s also water that will cleanse your body, while it is also the main ingredient of something excretory. Water is also a big component in the mucus in your throat, your nose and your eyes, just as the bile in your stomach.
Even though oil and water don’t mix, water is also like oil, in the sense that it is a lubricant. Water makes it easier for components to move freely from one another. A fine example in depicting these is that the water allows the joints in your knees and your elbows to slide properly. Whenever you bend or straighten your legs and fingers, you don’t have to exert much effort because the water inside you is responsible for all that.
For your comfort, it is also advised that you drink water. Take for example you had just ended a rigorous work out. You must replace the water you’ve lost inside you by drinking water. Besides, whenever you drink water, it replenishes and nourishes you. And it feels good.
Water cools you down with sweat. That’s also a water component on your skin. When you are under a hot sizzling sun, your body lets out a lot of heat, that’s why the skin tries to cool you through your sweat. This is the evaporation of air with something liquid.
Important to remember that when you’re exercising, you must not only drink because you’re dead tired. Schedule when you would drink. Do you prefer every ten or fifteen minutes. That’s because with a strenuous work-out, you lose more water in your body.
Water works so hard in providing you the needed nourishment your body requires from day to day. Normally, a person’s body loses 2 to 3 quarts of water. That’s 2 liters. Not only do you lose water through peeing and sweating, through evaporation, you unconsciously lose water. When you breathe, your breath has water droplets. It’s too minute for anybody to see. But you can see it in a way if you breathe in through glass. That’s again another evaporating process, which only proves that your breath does have water. Skin has water and these are also evaporated by the air.
By drinking water and eating the right food, a person replaces the water that is lost consciously and unconsciously. Food that are appropriate in replacing the lost water are the types that have water in it. Examples are cantaloupes, watermelon, oranges and grapes. These are fruits which you bite into and have a citrus-y feel. For vegetables, they may not have as much citrus-y feel as the fruits, but lettuce, celery and cucumbers are the top choices.
Do not rely on food alone. You yourself must intake the required eight to twelve glasses of water. There are also substitutes like soup. If you’re into coffee, it would only contribute in making you pee more. That’s because caffeine is a diuretic. Too much soda will only give you more sugar than it will give you more water.
Perhaps, the best advertisement we can advise anyone to drink water is that it makes the skin and hair beautiful and healthy. By drinking, you lessen the chances of having acne and rashes. There, I bet you’re grabbing a glass right now.
Make it a great day!

Have Beautiful Skin With The Right Vitamins!
Beauty may be only skin deep, but skin is deeper than you think: it is marvelously sensitive to goings-on inside the body and is quick to break out in a rash of protest when it disapproves.
Few beauty blemishes are harder to bear than unsightly skin. Yet pimples, eruptions, rashes, scaliness, dryness and changes in color do not often originate in the skin itself.
Usually they reflect some disorder of nourishment (in other than specific disease
processes) that affects the general health.
Except for certain food allergies, such as the propensity of strawberries to cause hives, skin troubles are caused not so much by the foods you eat as by the foods you don't eat. The essentials of skin health, and consequently of general health, are deficient in the diet, or the nourishing bloodstream is carrying substances that the skin resents.
One of the first signs of vitamin shortage is unhealthy changes in the skin. Often both the causes and symptoms are vague and obscure. Persons who go on regulated diets for other reasons than beauty are frequently surprised to observe that blemished skins become soft and clear on balanced food intake.
Indispensable to healthy skin is Vitamin A. It is the great regulator of epithelial tissue, the stuff your skin and the linings of your body cavities are made of. When A intake is diminished, an early sign is roughness and extreme dryness of the skin. It is a special kind of dryness, not relieved by ointments.
Especially on thighs and arms, the skin becomes rough with goose-pimples. The hair follicles are plugged with cornified epithelium. "Cornified" comes from a word meaning "horn" and it means that your skin is on the way to becoming the same stuff that makes a bullfighter watch his step. In more advanced cases the skin may break out with eruptions similar to those of acne except that they are not pustular.
Not only the skin but the external layers of organs such as the eye become hard and dry in absence o£ Vitamin A. In fact, the eye can dry up so completely that blindness results. If you remain dry-eyed at a grand weepy movie, it may not be a sign of emotional inertia but simply an indication that the tear ducts are becoming dammed up from lack of Vitamin A. Absence of perspiration may mean that the sweat glands are becoming plugged.
Hair and nails are modified forms of skin. Just as the skin becomes dry from lack of Vitamin A, so does hair become brittle and lose its luster. Brittle nails are often improved by high-vitamin diets. Brittleness in nails is also chargeable to the overenthusiastic use of some types of lacquer and polish that abstract natural oils.
Vitamin C deficiency can also cause papular eruptions of the skin, as well as patchy areas of vaguely darkened color.
More characteristic of C shortage is the tendency of the skin to bruise easily, developing ugly black and blue spots from causes hardly more severe than being spoken to sharply. In fact, the skin can become black and blue entirely on its own initiative. Small red pinprick spots can occur spontaneously. These phenomena arise from the fragility of the blood vessels, characteristic of Vitamin C shortage.
Among the B vitamins, riboflavin and nicotinic acid are most commonly associated with skin disorders. The disease of pellagra, involving the skin, is caused by a dietary lack of nicotinic acid. In early cases the skin looks as if it were severely sunburned; it is burning, tender, and dark in color. Later the skin becomes thick and scaly and pigmentation deepens. Riboflavin (Vitamin G) deficiencies show up in painful fissures of the skin at the corners of the mouth.
The tragic skin curse of adolescence is acne, which peppers the face with unsightly pimples at the very age when personal appearance becomes supremely important to boys and girls. The irresistible impulse to dig and gouge at the eruptions may leave permanent beauty blemishes in the form of scarred skin.
In part, at least, acne is a skin response to the adjustment of the glandular system to maturity. Yet dietary management has a place in treatment. The mere restriction of fat, greasy, and sugar-heavy foods is often helpful.
Recently it has been demonstrated that Vitamin D is sometimes beneficial. Regular daily doses of 5,000 or more units of Vitamin D have reduced the number of acne eruptions in many cases. Although not a specific cure, enough work has been done to prove that Vitamin D is a highly valuable agent in acne treatment.
Psoriasis, a skin ailment manifested by a curious silver scaliness, has also proved moderately amenable to Vitamin D. It is a mysterious disease, however, with spontaneous remissions, and dermatologists are very cautious in making any promises about it.
Some soaps and cosmetics contain slight amounts of Vitamins A and D, and ballyhoo this virtue out of all reason. It is true that these vitamins can be absorbed to some extent through the skin. The advisability of taking them in this fashion is another matter. If the cosmetics are sold at the same prices as standard creams and ointments your druggist can show you, there is no need to avoid them; but if they are decked out in fancy prices, you can suspect that some canny manufacturer is aiming to cash in on public gullibility.
Indeed, it is amusing to consider that some soaps, bill-boarding their Vitamin D content, may actually restrict your intake of that vitamin by washing off the skin oils from which you manufacture Vitamin D with the cooperation of sunlight or ultra-violet irradiation.
In general, the avoidance of heavy, rich foods and greater dependence upon milk, eggs, liver, lean meats, fruit and fresh vegetables is a sound principle in building good health and consequent skin beauty. The elimination of foods to which you suspect you are hypersensitive is best left to the offices of a dermatologist, who can usually determine the offender swiftly with simple tests and thus save you from possibly eliminating from your diet the very foods that protect against deficiencies.

8 Superfoods for your Brain!
We've all had days when we didn't feel like we were 'on our game.' And as we age, both our bodies and our brains grow old as well. By making smart food choices though, we can preserve our precious gray matter longer and improve brain function. Here are some brainy choices for keeping our noggins in tip-top shape.
Blueberries have been shown to shield the brain from stress, dementia, and Alzheimer's disease. Research has also shown that diets rich in blueberries significantly improved both the learning capacity and motor skills.
Avocados, though considered a 'fatty fruit,' contribute to healthy blood flow and decreased blood pressure, lessening the chances of developing hypertension, which can lead to a stroke.
Deep-water fish, such as salmon is a wise, freshwater fish choice. It's abundant in omega-3 essential fatty acids, which are essential for healthy brain function.
Nuts and seeds are good sources of vitamin E, an important vitamin needed by your brain to stave off declining cognitive functions. Cashews, peanuts, walnuts, sunflower and sesame seeds and almonds are all great choices.
Whole-grain breads, brown rice, and oatmeal also contribute to a healthy brain by reducing the risk for cardiac disease. By promoting a healthy heart and improved blood flow, the brain is sure to thrive via excellent oxygen and nutrient delivery through the bloodstream.
Complex carbohydrates also supply the brain with a steady stream of glucose that enhances brain function. It's important to avoid simple carbohydrates often found in junk food because the glucose gives the brain a short-lived sugar high, often followed by a crash that makes you feel hungry and tired.
Freshly brewed tea also has potent antioxidants, especially the class known as catechines, which also promotes healthy blood flow. Since black teas do contain caffeine it's important to use it sensibly.
Dark chocolate has powerful antioxidant properties, contains several natural stimulants, which enhance focus and concentration, and encourages the production of endorphins, which helps improve mood. Again, moderation is the key.
Make it a great day!

Coffee / Caffeine and Its Role in Weight Loss!
The general opinion on the benefits of coffee or more specifically caffeine to our health is not unanimous. Some say it’s good, but some believe otherwise. Nevertheless, we’ll have to ignore the voice of the majority for a while, and concentrate solely on the role of caffeine in sports performance.
Drink It or Dump It?
Before you answer that question, let’s take a brief look on some of the possible benefits of caffeine for athletes:
The Pain’s Not That Bad
A higher than usual amount of caffeine in your system will make you not as insensitive as you usually are to pain. This is pleasant news for all athletes. Imagine playing a game – any sport would do – then accidentally injuring yourself. While it’s not that serious, the pain is intense enough to make you want to quit. But that won’t happen if you’ve drunk enough caffeine before the game. With caffeine working in your system, the pain’s not that bad. The pain would be tolerable at the least, but enough to make you continue playing in the game.
One Shot to Success
Let’s say you’re the MVP of your team and you’re carrying the weight of the whole championship on your shoulders. It’s the last game. It’s the most important game in your life, and you know you need just 1% more of your usual energy and efficiency to clinch the win. That extra 1% can be yours…if, once more, you’ve the right amount of caffeine in your body.
It’s a well-known fact that caffeine has a boosting effect on a person’s mind and body. That’s the kind of effect some athletes need when they’re playing the most important game in their careers.
Shake It Off
Energy levels aside, you just feel you’re strong and refreshed the whole time. That’s how caffeine is. It allows you to continue to play and perform longer and better than others. You’re like a battery that’s fully charged the whole game, while the power levels of other batteries are slowly going down to zero. With caffeine doing its mojo bit in your system, you’re able to shake off your fatigue like it’s nothing but dust.
Better Mental Vision
Problems also appear more clearly in your mind when you’ve got enough caffeine in your system. There are no twisting tangles which make you unable to reach split-second decisions. Most sports are made difficult because of the time factor. When each second counts, it’s imperative that you can still think clearly even as the pressure gets more and more unbearable. The presence of caffeine, however, will help in preventing you from making ill-advised decisions.
Burn More Fats
Caffeine speeds up the fat burning process or lipolysis. Unless you’re a sumo wrestler – a sport in which greater bulk is generally encouraged – most sports require people to have a leaner or tougher frame. Increasing your caffeine consumption can help you achieve that goal. Caffeine can help you manage your weight better, and in time to become physically fit for the championship bout.
Ideal for Endurance Sports
Caffeine also works better than usual when used to achieve greater results in endurance sports like swimming and tennis. In games where the last man standing wins, caffeine is most likely to provide the user with maximum benefits. Scientific studies have already proven that this claim is genuine.
Tips on Taking Coffee to Improve Sports Performance
Consult your personal or team physician about your plan to increase consumption of coffee. Your physiological makeup may have certain unique factors that will lead to an undesirable reaction when too much caffeine is consumed.
Know the official rules of the sport and the league because they may have set a limit on the amount of caffeine a player can consume prior to the game.
If you’re going to use caffeine to boost your performance, make sure you do so at least three hours before the start of the game. The desired effects of caffeine take that long before it can operate.
If you’ve already been drinking caffeine as a performance booster for a long time, you should know that habitual drinking will increase your tolerance for caffeine while reducing its impact on your body. When this happens, refrain from drinking coffee at least 3 days prior to the competition for your tolerance level to go back to normal.
Make it a great day!
