Eat As Often As You Want And Stay Slim!

Who says you shouldn't eat between meals? Time-honored admonitions to this effect turn out not to be true at all.

How can you make the limited calories of your reducing diet linger with you longer? Spread them out into five or even six meals a day. The break up of your diet into breakfast, lunch, and dinner is purely conventional. As long as you do not exceed your total calories, you can rearrange the order of the day's food intake, and the frequency of eating, within wide limits.

Suppose you save a slice of toast and a piece of fruit for a mid-morning snack, some orange juice and a couple of soda crackers for 4 p.m., and a glass of milk before bedtime, subtracting these items from the other three meals of the day. What happens? You are more satisfied with your reducing diet, full of pep and ginger, rambunctious and rarin' to go.

The direct relationship between food intake and muscular efficiency has been studied by Dr. Howard A. Haggard and Dr. Leon A. Greenberg of Yale University, among others. They recorded the results of frequent feedings on factory workers. Most accidents and errors in the factory were occurring shortly before noon and before the evening whistle. By the simple expedient of allowing the workers a mid-morning and a mid-afternoon snack hour, their output was surprisingly increased and there was a substantial drop in errors.

On such a schedule-and this is the part that will fascinate reducers-the workers were satisfied with smaller lunches and dinners.

Shortly after a meal, your muscular efficiency increases about 30%-that is, you are able to get more work out of the same amount of calories, or you are able to perform the same amount of work with less fatigue. Starches and sugars are most quickly converted into usable energy; hence the advisability of reserving sweetened fruit juices, toast, milk, or fresh fruit for your "extra" meals.

"But doesn't my stomach need a rest?" you may be wondering. "Won't five meals a day overwork it?"

Stomachs live to work. When they're empty they invest their energy in hunger contractions as a signal for you to renew the supply of raw materials. Several light meals keep your stomach happy, whereas a large, heavy meal wins only a gastric groan. So important is it to keep an empty stomach from terrifying itself by its own voracity that a standard treatment for stomach ulcer calls for practically continuous milk feedings.

Many reducers are victims of the grand matinal delusion that they're off to a splendid day if they confine breakfast to a cup of coffee. Perhaps they go lightly on lunch too, so by evening their appetite is way out of bounds and they stow away a lumberman's dinner- at just the time of day when they need it least. Moreover, they have gone through the working day at a low pitch of energy, wondering why they're tired out and "dopey" when the trouble simply is that they're hungry. These remarks do not apply to overweight persons on short-term diets who have to cut down on calories all through the day.

Get up a little earlier, leave the dishes unwashed, take your shower the night before-anything to save time for breakfast. You are most rested and free from physical fatigue when you get up in the morning, but your muscular efficiency is at its lowest because it is 10 or 12 hours since you ate anything. A skimpy breakfast, except for short-term reducers, is an invitation to that tired feeling to dog you all day, with its unhappy by-products of jitteriness and irritability.

Let a couple of boiled eggs and maybe a slice of ham lick the no-breakfast blues. You'll even find it easier to got along with your boss or your husband or wife.

Make it a great day!

Lose Weight Muscle Training and Weight Loss Demystified!

Strength training can help you lose weight. Muscle training can help you lose weight fast. Not only do you lose weight when you are actually doing the strength training, you continue to lose weight for every pound of muscle you build. That’s right, each pound of muscle you put on will burn 50 calories a day without you doing any additional work!

Here are some strategies to lose weight – muscle style:

· Limit fatty and sugary foods. Processed, sweet, and fat dense foods all pack on fat pounds. Instead, consume whole grains, fruit and vegetables.

· Do things around the house. Much of our house work is assigned out to maids, gardeners, and other service people. But doing the physical activity of keeping the house running can actually help you to lose weight and put on muscle.

· Take at least 10,000 steps a day. While this might seem daunting as the average American only gets 3000 to 4000 steps in a day, there are strategies to help you get more. The foundation is to get a good 45 minute walk every day. Add to that steps taken by walking up stairs rather than riding the elevator and by parking far from the front door, and you will soon reach your 10,000 steps.

· Get aerobic exercise at least 3-4 times a week. This can be running on a treadmill, bicycling, or dancing.

· And at the core of lose weight – muscle style is developing a strength training regime.

Often, we think of strength training as using free weights or elliptical machines. But there are things you can do in your own home without any equipment to lose weight. Muscle strength training can be accomplished with the following exercises:

· Sit ups
· Crunches
· Leg Lifts
· Jack Knife Sit ups (raise knees to torso and allow face and knees to meet)
· V-ups (raise legs and torso simultaneously keeping legs straight)
· Side stretches (raise body off floror supporting yourself with your elbow)
· Lunge chop (using a medicine ball)
· Chair exercise (stand on a chair gripping the arm rests. . Press your back against the rear of the chair, tensing your abdominal muscles in order to raise your legs, lifting your knees towards your chest and keeping your back straight.
· Vertical Leg Crunch
· Long Arm Crunch
· Reverse Crunch
· Vertical Sit Up Crunch
· Bench crunch
· Leg Tuck
· Upright Sit Up
· Scissor cuts

If you want to lose weight, muscle strength training is where you should start. Not only will you expend calories exercising, you will also be building fat-burning muscle that will keep you losing weight all of the time, even when you are not exercising.

Losing weight is something you work on over the long haul. However, there are ways to jump start your weight loss. Using the weight loss – muscle strengthening plan I’ve outlined in this article, you should start to see results in as little as one month.

Make it a great day!

The Role Of Vitamin B3 Niacin!

Vitamin B3 niacin is an essential vitamin for your body, and it is just one of the eight water soluble types of B vitamins. Nearly all of the B vitamin classes will help the body convert carbohydrates into sugar or glucose, which can then be burned to produce energy. Also known as complex B vitamins, B3 niacin are essential in helping the body break down protein and fat.

Complex B vitamins also play an important role with maintaining muscle tone within the digestive tract, along with the health of the skin, nervous system, live, eyes, hair, and mouth. Even though a lot of people associate creative with the aspect of muscles and muscle tone, vitamin B3 niacin is as equally important - if not more important.

B3 niacin is also important with getting harmful or toxic chemicals out of the body. It can also help the body produce different sex and stress related hormones within the adrenal glands, among other parts of the body. The vitamin is also useful for helping with sexual dysfunction as well. This can be great news for those who have problems with pleasing their mate.

Also very effective with improving circulation, B3 niacin can also help to reduce cholesterol levels found in the blood. Even though vitamin B3 niacin is great as a stand alone supplement, it should also consumed with foods that contain protein, due to the fact that the body is able to convert the amino acid known as tryptophan into niacin.

The higher doses of B3 niacin, which are available only through prescription, have been proven to prevent and also improve a variety of different symptoms and ailments. Due to the high risk of toxicity, individuals should always consult with a doctor first, before they decide to start higher doses of B3 niacin.

There are also niacin skin care products that are being developed as well, which contain anti-aging products, helping to treat acne and also aid in the prevention of skin cancer. A lot of dermatologists expect that these products will become really popular over the next several years. Even though they are still in development stages, research has proven them to be very effective when compared to the other types of products.

The best sources for vitamin B3 niacin include beef, pork, turkey, beets, veal, fish, chicken, salmon, tuna, and peanuts. You can also get supplements that contain B3 niacin as well, which can give your body the amounts it needs. This is a very important vitamin, as it does a lot more for the body than most think. By consuming foods that contain it or taking the proper supplements - you’ll get the amount of B vitamins that your body needs on a daily basis.

If you want to succeed; get out of this trap!

When is "good enough" not GOOD ENOUGH? When there is something better. If you have fallen into this trap you'd better get out quickly.

Let's say you're the top sales-person in the office, you're aiming to become sales manager in the next couple of months - you're outselling your colleagues two to one. The promotion is in the bag. You believe that you can take your foot off the pedal and cruise effortlessly towards your goal.

WRONG!

Complacency is very dangerous... you must recognise the signs early and combat it immediately.

A complacent Country can lose a war before they even know it has begun.
A complacent company can lose market share to a minor competitor.
A complacent husband can lose his wife before he realises there are relationship problems.
A complacent boxer can lose his title in the opening round to an unranked competitor.

Ask yourself:

Do you feel self-satisfied?
Do you find it hard to acknowledge your mistakes?
Do you find it difficult to accept constructive criticism?
Do you fail to see difficulties in your personal life?
Do you believe that minimal effort "will do"?

These are some of the symptoms of becoming complacent. Complacency is caused when you become too comfortable, lose motivation and don't believe that you need to put in any extra effort. If you recognise any of these symptoms in yourself it is important to rectify the situation. Becoming complacent will NOT lead to your success.

What can you do to overcome complacency?

To overcome complacency, you must realise that good enough is NOT going to lead to success. It is only when you do your absolute best that you can say, "I gave it my best shot."

If we go back to the example of the boxer, we can see why it is important not to become complacent. The champion boxer believed that he did not have to put all of his effort into training before the fight. He believed that he was good enough to beat his competitor. His competitor on the other hand realised that HE was not good enough, and that he had to put all of his effort into training... that he must give everything he has got. He must put every single ounce of energy into the fight because this could be his only chance to win the title.

You must never assume that there is no room for improvement, if you always strive to improve then you leave no room in your life for complacency. If you find your faults and deal with them, you will always aim to be a better person. Do not make excuses if you fail. Do not ask yourself "why?" It is usually followed with an excuse. Instead, ask yourself "how did it happen?" and "what can I do to rectify the situation?" By learning from your mistakes you will be able to grow.

When you eliminate complacency and make a positive effort to continually improve yourself, you will find that success is far easier to achieve.

Make it a great day!

Bench Press 101 & Ronald McDonald!

The following may come as a shock to those with followed trends and exercise, health and fitness: There was a professional bodybuilding coach who actually professed the sentiment that the barbell bench press wasn't unimportant exercise. Who know where this sentiment originated? Perhaps, the individual took the exercise for granted and assumed that he could find an alternate method that would replace it. Good luck! Needless to say, this sentiment did not gain any traction because without the bench press there is no way a professional bodybuilder or a hobbyist could ever develop their upper body without the use of the barbell bench press exercise. To put it mildly, the bench presses that chain of upper body development. Without it, the ability to build a chest, arm, and shoulder muscles would be next to impossible.

The three forms of bench presses are the supine, incline, and decline bench press. Supine is the traditional flat barbell bench press. The incline is an angle it moves up words and decline is it an angle that moves downwards. Pushing the weight at different angles develops different sections of the chest as well as places secondary stress on different body parts. While most people only perform the flat bench press, it is a much better idea to utilize all three angles. This will create a more symmetric shape to your upper body. Also, it is important to use dumbbells as well as barbells. This is because dumbbells can be lowered below the chest level since there is no bat bouncing on the chest. As such, this extended range of motion allows the lower muscles of the chest area are hit through dumbbell use.

It is also important to use a spotter when performing a barbell bench press. This is for safety reasons because if you are unable to hold up the weight the bar could come crashing down on your chest. This could create a serious injury to the sternum. So, unless you are lifting a weight that is easy to manage it would be best to stick with a spotting partner. The alternative would be to use a piece of equipment known as a Smith machine. The Smith machine is designed with a built in safety latch that will keep the weight from falling if you are unable to maintain the lift.

Contrary to popular belief you do not have to lift weights excessively in order to achieve results. Instead, if you lift one or two days a week consistently with and emphasis on resting your muscles as opposed our training them you will discover a number of amazing gains in your barbell bench press routine. This will be the best course of action to take if you're looking to develop a strong and well defined chest area.

Make it a great day!

Chris

P.S. I thought the picture of Ronald McDonald doing a bench press was funny! Enjoy!

7 Diet Secrets of the Stars!

Celebrities always look fabulous. Whether appearing in television or films or strutting down the red carpet during movie premiers and awards, they never cease to fascinate us with their larger than life presence. The truth is, it takes a lot of effort to look the way they do, and being the public figures that they are, they cannot afford to slack off when it comes to taking care of their physical appearances. Their livelihood largely depends on how they look. Aside from the clothes, the hair and the makeup, celebrities have to take good care of their bodies.

So it is no surprise that these stars have their own secrets when it comes to staying fit and gorgeous. Their health agenda can range from extreme workouts to well-planned meals. Who doesn't want to know their secrets in staying absolutely sexy? Here are some of the diet secrets of seven women celebrities.

1. Jennifer Aniston
The star of the phenomenal television show Friends not only mesmerized audiences with her adorable comic sense and her famous hairstyle, she was also known for having one of the sexiest bodies in Hollywood, as she appeared in countless magazine covers. To stay trim, Jennifer follows the 40:30:30 diet method. The diet consists of:

40% Low glycemic carbohydrates
-Foods such as beans, fruits and vegetables, legumes

30% lean proteins
-Tofu, fish, chicken, turkey, beef and low fat dairy products

30% essential fats
-nuts and seeds, fish and olive oils

It is essential that every meal should contain macronutrients to attain the balance of hormones and maximum weight loss.

2. Kate Hudson
The gorgeous daughter of actress Goldie Hawn gained 60 pounds during her pregnancy, which she needed to shed quickly before commencing on her next film. From her previous eating plan, she switched to a higher protein diet. She consumed high protein meals in smaller portions, and she combined this diet with an exercise program that includes weight training and cardiovascular workouts. After getting a lot of flak because of her post-pregnancy figure, Kate removed all that baby weight in only four months and has gained abdominal muscles that gained the envy of many in Hollywood.

3. Oprah Winfrey
As one of the most successful talk-show hosts in the world, there is no question that Oprah needs to maintain her physical appearance for her millions of audiences. Known as one of those celebrities who are constantly battling weight gain, she has recently toned up her figure and has never looked figure in age 50 by combining a regular exercise regime and diet plan. Oprah works out five days a week, spending 30 minutes on the threadmill and doing free weights. Her eating plan consists of legumes, fish, nuts, fruits and vegetables, chicken and dairy products that are lowfat. She limits her consumption of white sugar and flour. Oprah also credits her trim figure to her habit of not eating anything after seven in the evening.

4. Gwyneth Paltrow
A lot of people may find it hard to believe that the perpetually slim Academy award-winning actress actually needs to diet. Gwyneth actually follows a healthy eating plan that resembles Oprah's, avoiding sugar and white flour. She usually follows a macrobiotic diet, eating foods like vegetables, brown rice, and lean meat. She also eliminated dairy from her diet, and does yoga everyday.

5. Madonna
The pop star known as the Material Girl has always flaunted a body that is to die for, and has become a true fitness paragon over the years. She keeps herself in tip-top shape by having Ashtanga Yoga, and follows a strict diet that mostly shuns junk foods. She adopted a macrobiotic eating plan that includes organic foods rich in lean protein.

6. Claudia Schiffer
The bodacious German supermodel eats salad and steamed vegetables for dinner and eats only fruits before the afternoon. While on locations, she prefers to eat black grapes and drinks tomato juice and herbal tea.

7. Christie Brinkley
Long-time supermodel maintains her all-American good looks by being a vegetarian. She does not keep junk foods of any kind inside her home to make sure that she does not eat them when cravings occur. She snacks on sweet potatoes in place of candy bars, and she adopts a liquid juice diet when she needs to slim down fast.

Celebrities are just like ordinary people. They need to maintain their figures just like anyone else, and there is more pressure on their part since they are constantly in the public eye. Ordinary folks can have celebrity-like bodies, too, and by following these diet and fitness plans, they can also look like red-carpet worthy.
