13 Laws of Getting Fit for 2008!

The following is an official document from the offices of Chris Walker to be read by fitness hopefuls.

The XIII Laws of Getting Fit

I. If you’re exercise routine does not include a concern for muscle, good nutrition and moderate aerobics, you will not get fit.

II. If you think having stand alone access to a gym or health club will get you fit, you will not get fit.

III. If you think you can only get fit in a gym and because you don’t have a gym membership you don’t exercise, you will not get fit.

IV. If you fail to plan time for your exercise you will not get fit.

V. If you routinely attempt to workout after 7pm you have a 50% less chance of completing your exercise session and you will not get fit.

VI. If you think diet or weight loss centers are permanent get fit solutions, you will not get fit.

VII. If you think a miraculous diet pill or formula is a good get fit solution, you will not get fit.

VIII. If you think exercising only one body part (stomach) is a good get fit solution, you will not get fit.

IX. If you think aerobics/cardio by itself is a good get fit solution, you will not get fit.

X. If you think walking/running by itself is a good get fit solution, you will not get fit.

XI. If you think dieting alone is a good get fit solution, you will not get fit.

XII. If you think eating one particular food is a good get fit solution, you will not get fit.

XIII. If you think starving yourself is a good get fit solution, you will not get fit.

Now it’s just as silly to challenge these laws as it is to challenge the laws of gravity, “what goes up must come down”, therefore accepting these said laws and allowing them to govern your exercise regimen as such, will eventuate in total dominance of one’s fitness goals.

Cardio for weight loss?

Too many women think cardio or aerobic exercise by it self is a good solution for permanent weight loss. Nothing could be further from the truth. Performing a cardio only exercise program will leave you fatter than you started. Too many women think that cardio burns fat. Truth is, it doesn’t. It can be properly structured in an exercise program and be very beneficial for weight loss but in and of itself, cardio or aerobics will not bring permanent results.

Why Not?

In case you don’t know cardio is short for cardiovascular exercise. That being said we do cardio primarily to strengthen the cardiovascular and respiratory system. The benefits of such exercise is: more efficient uptake and delivery of oxygen, more efficient transport of nutrients, fat and waste. It’s true various cardio exercises can burn a lot of calories; some cardio or aerobics classes can even burn as much as 700 to 800 calories but fat loss is usually short lived because muscle is usually sacrificed in the process. Yes, that’s right too much cardio can result in muscle loss and if your goal is fat loss you need to build muscle not lose it.

Sue’s failure

Most people when they attempt to lose weight in an cardio only exercise program do too much cardio. I know why they do it. They think the more the cardio they do the quicker they will lose the weight. So, this is what typically happens. Sue wants to lose weight. She aggressively does cardio five to seven times a week. Sue does 1/2 hr on the tread mill, 1/2 hr on the recumbent bike, 45 min on the elliptical trainer and then tops it all off with an 1 hr long aerobics class. She keeps it up for a couple weeks and notices some weight loss. Sue’s eating habits are ok but only eats three to four meals a day. Sue thinks doing weights will make her look like a guy, so she avoids it at all cost. Sue continues with her routine but finds it hard to stay committed to her taxing exercise schedule. Sue preservers and is thrilled with her weight loss. She lost 30 pounds! Great, Sue now thinks I don’t have to frequent the gym so much and reduces her visits to two to three times a week. Sue continues her trend and further reduces her visits to once a week. She notices her weight slowly creeping back up and is soon 40 pounds overweight. She wonders how come her weight came back so quickly and why it’s so hard to maintain her desired physique. Frustrated, she hits the gym hard again seven days a week hoping to repeat her success but wonders why it’s taking so long to lose those unwanted pounds second time around. Sue decides to add more cardio to her routine to speed up the progress.

Sue’s Mistake

Sue’s problem is too much cardio. She lost weight initially but lost muscle as well in the process because of excess cardio without a concern for muscle. As a result, Sue’s metabolism slowed down making it harder for her to lose fat, despite increased efforts. Sue’s excess cardio, poor eating and lack of weight training was her downfall. Please understand, what Sue is really doing is being super active or expending a lot of energy, once Sue backed off of her exercise routine her weight came back on and then some because she didn’t have the muscle mass or metabolism to maintain her slim physique. So many women make this mistake. Cardio only routines are no good for permanent weight loss. What Sue really needed to apply was synergy: good nutrition, a concern for muscle and moderate aerobics. The only way for permanent weight loss. Read related articles: “Fat Skinny Women”, “Women & Weights”

How to Stop Cravings for Good!

I was watching Perfect Fit (tv show) the other day as I often do and I couldn't help but listen to the advice these two health professionals were giving this young lady that was wondering why she was having such a tough time with her food cravings. If you've never watched the show before it's a health and fitness show that brings on fitness experts as guests who give advice to their viewing audience as they call in. Now the show had a gym owner and a dietician on there and they were pretty good and well intentioned but man I really wanted to jump in there because they made it seem so hopeless as if this lady was doomed to a life of cravings that she couldn't get rid of. They started talking about hormones, addictions and emotional eating all which could play a role but listen the reason why this lady had cravings is because she was starving and the body was trying to keep her alive. Are you getting this, anytime your body has food cravings it's basically trying to get you to make up for something your lacking........ food and it doesn't care whether it's good or bad. It's up to you to train your body to want good food.

How to stop cravings!

Firstly, I was also wondering why nobody mentioned how much food she was eating. It sounded like she had a lot of kids, was a little stressed out and had like no time to eat. It would therefore be safe to say that she probably had 2-3 meals a day that were quickly prepared and lacked in good macro/micro nutrients.

Your body is very intelligent and it's main or primary goal is to keep you alive. So, any time you cut calories as in dieting or have poor eating habits due to lifestyle your body will drive you towards fatty and sugary foods. It does this because fat is very dense in calories and sugary foods are easier for your body to convert into fat. (An example would be ice cream, cake...) Your body will now take these crappy foods and store them in your body (fat) just in case you have another bout with starvation or calorie deprivation. Your body thinks your starving and it's doing what it does best survival.

How should I eat!

OK, so I touched on this lady only getting about 2-3 meals daily. You need to be getting about 5-6 meals of moderate size every 3-3 1/2 hours comprised of a lean protein, starchy carb and a fibrous carb daily. Eating these types of quality meal will stabilize blood sugar all throughout the day and make it easier for your body to release fat. Your body will also now trust you more because your feeding it constantly, end result, your cravings will go away. I repeat, your cravings will go away. Just trust me and try it.

Conclusion

To make cravings go away eat frequent meals every 3-3 1/2 hours comprised of a lean protein, starchy carb and a fibrous carb. As a result, your body will have a constant supply of glucose (energy) your blood sugar will be stable, (balance between insulin and glucagon) you will no longer be in starvation or cravings mode and your body will trust you because your feeding it on a regular basis. Voila cravings are gone!

Atkins Diet?

I really don't need to write anything about the Atkins diet. There's tons of information on the internet discouraging anyone from trying this diet, that being said, I'm sure you can find positive information on the Atkins diet as well, so let me give it to you straight. The Atkins diet is a bad idea. The Atkins diet created by Dr. Robert C Atkins is a high protein low carbohydrate diet. This diet is obviously, calorie deprivation, that results in muscle loss and a slowed metabolism. The Atkins diet doesn't work for permanent weight loss. Diets don't work, they make you more fat.

Fad Diet's Dont Work

Have you tried the latest diet? It’s called CW rapid results. Here’s how it works. You eat broccoli for breakfast, broccoli for lunch and then a small complete meal for dinner. The results are fantastic! Lose 30-40 pounds in three weeks. Does this sound familiar? Does this sound like one of the diet’s you’ve tried? In case you didn’t catch on, I just made this diet up, yep. It only took me 30 seconds. All you need is a flashy title, CW (Chris Walker) rapid results. Advise your victim, oh sorry, client to cut calories. Top that off with a little bit of credibility (I do mean little) clever marketing and advertising and “voila”, you’re rich. This is great for the weight loss centers and diet gurus because it gives them residual income. Your diet keeps failing; you keep blaming yourself and going back. This time you’ll have more will power, you think to yourself. I heard it all before. This is a dangerous psychological game these diet sellers are playing. If you constantly fail at something you’ll give up, lose hope, throw your hands in the air and shout “nothing works I’ll be a big fatso, couch potato for life”. You’ll hate yourself, never look in the mirror and order a large pizza from Domino’s. Until the pizza arrives you’ll snack on potato chips.

The Good News

Here’s the good news it’s not your fault, I repeat it’s not your fault. You’re just another victim of clever marketing and advertising. DIETS DON’T WORK!!! As a matter of fact, supplements don’t work for weight loss either. Ok, they could assist in weight loss but a pill won’t magically burn away all your fat problems. Have you ever seen those ab-cruncher infomercials that claim to reduce your mid section and miraculously tone your entire body. I mean, how does an overweight person do a few crunches on some “ab-thingy” and also develop ripped biceps and chiseled pecs? Outrageous claims! My point is none of the above-mentioned work as a long-term weight loss solution. Sure your friend lost weight on some diet but now he’s fat, that’s why he’s avoiding your calls, since he’s the one who introduced you to the diet in the first place.

Why Fad Diet’s don’t Work

Let’s take a closer look at diet’s and weight loss. Your body is designed to safely lose 2 pounds in rare cases maybe even 3 pounds per week. Your muscles are made up of protein and water. When you diet or deprive yourself of calories your body cannot meet daily energy requirements. Food is fuel (energy). Your body now goes into starvation mode and looks for other means of energy. The protein in your muscles will do just fine. Your body breaks apart muscle and in the process water is released. Depending on the length of your calorie deprivation this loss of muscle and water will register on the scale as 20-30 pounds. You cheer “yeaahh”, not knowing the damage your doing to your metabolism. Now, neurotransmission (signals from the brain) come into play. Sending you messages to eat more, and not just anything, your body wants the food it could survive off of the longest, FAT. That equals cookies, chips, pizza, wings….etc. You try to hold off but the signals become stronger and stronger. You tell yourself you have to stick to will power. You try everything. You even take all your food and put it in your friend’s freezer. Yet the cravings are still there, even stronger. It’s 12:00 am and you’re starving to death (literally). You try to justify to yourself since I’m doing so well. I’ll drive over to Wendy’s for their late night menu. After all, I lost 30 pounds, no one will know, you think. When you arrive at Wendy’s you order one of everything from the menu. You wake up the next morning and hate yourself. This eating pattern continues for about 1-2 weeks. At that time you weigh yourself to see if you’re still ok. “Shucks” the scale is disappointing and even depressing. Back to your initial weight, back to Jenny Craig you go.

Solution

It doesn’t have to be this way. All it takes is a few changes in your approach. Eat to lose weight, moderate aerobics and resistance training will guarantee life long health.

If you have any questions regarding fitness health and wellness, don’t hesitate to drop me a line in the talk to me section of the website. Don’t be a victim of wrong information, there’s a lot of gimmicks out there, empowerment and truth is the key to long lasting health and fitness.

Dr. Bernstein?

Dr. Bernstein is marketed as medically supervised weight loss guaranteed. Have I seen people lose weight, sure, but at what cost? I do not wish to demean or explicate derogatory comments regarding Dr. Bernstein and his medical weight loss clinics. Surely, if you've managed to lose weight and keep it off, then congratulations. When people tell me about their experience at Dr. Bernstein it's usually past tense meaning it was something that failed them. I spoke to a young lady who tried almost everything to lose weight. She told me about her experience at Dr. Bernstein and described it as horrible. She said they were so strict, she couldn't eat anything, she was starving, she had to sign all these documents, they took urine samples to make sure she didn't deviate from her diet plan and they injected her with needles. Ok, now in my logical mind I cannot comprehend why anyone would want to put themselves through such a predicament when all you have to do is apply the principles of the dynamic 3. That's it! This weight loss solution thing is really simple. It's just that people are so confused and so desperate, their willing to try anything.

Does it work

Dr. Bernstein has helped thousands of people lose weight, it's no big secret what he's doing, it's simply calorie deprivation that's supervised by a team of medical professionals. He uses injections, vitamin injections to keep you're body in a some what healthy state. The trick to his program is his maintenance plan. You have to adhere to his maintenance plan or the weight will come back, just like any other calorie deprivation bout. What that means is more money for him and his empire and a dependant lifestyle for you. I remember this talk show host went on his plan and yeah he lost some weight, but the weight noticeably came back on and I guess he wasn't aloud to say anything on the air, I believe he had a contract to promote the company. You probably know who I'm talking about but I can't remember his name. Dr. Bernstein has been in the business of helping people lose weight for a long time, I believe over 30 years, with exceptional marketing and advertising campaigns but his approach seems to be lacking in exercise. One of the components of synergy. If you lose weight too quickly and you're weight solution doesn't include exercise you're sure to be left with sagging skin, which leads you to another problem. Surgery to get rid of excess skin.

Conclusion

I'm sure you can read between the lines, I'm sure you understand what happens when you cut calories, your metabolism slows and you lose muscle. I remember this trainer who was working with this guy on the Bernstein diet and he always use to say I wish this guy would come off this diet so he could see results. I remember his client clearly too, he took his shirt off one day and his chest was all saggy, he had sagging skin all over his body, gross, and just like I said he had to be on some maintenance plan where they inject you with who knows what. I'm tired of repeating myself, I really just say the same thing time and again. Ladies and gents all you need is the dynamic 3, all you need to apply is good nutrition, a concern for muscle and a moderate amount of aerobics. Sure, Dr. Bernstein can work for you but I'm just here to point out what I believe are the flaws. I'm writing this based primarily on information from clients so if I'm ignorant to some of the procedures at Dr. Bernstein or you have a positive experience to share, please enlighten me.

Jenny Craig?

I'm starting to wonder if y'all are looking at me as some sort of "basher". I'm really not, I try to say positive things it's just that there are so many false claims and weight loss solutions that don't work. It's my job to bring you nothing but the truth, if something works and applies the concepts of synergy I'll tell you. I'll even post it on my website. I didn't create synergy. I just know it works. People have been getting fit for years without the help of all these diets and supplements, without the help of all these "so called" weight loss solutions. The only reason why we buy into them is, one were desperate and two we think the presented solution will be easy. Ladies and "gents" what people used in the past was synergy, which means good nutrition, a concern for muscle and a moderate amount of aerobics. Now that I said all that lets talk about Jenny Craig.

Jenny Craig

Jenny Craig founded the weight loss diet, The Jenny Craig Weight Loss Plan in the mid 1980s, Born in Louisiana around 1933, she started the weight-loss company with her Australian husband, Sid. Jenny Craig's diet is a reduced low calorie commercial diet that is basically following in the footsteps of Weight Watchers. Her approach is a restricted calorie diet that focuses on balanced nutrition. Jenny Craig's program uses a ratio of 60% carbohydrates, 20% protein, 20% fat which follows the recommendation of the Food Guide Pyramid. The strategy focuses primarily on pre-packaged meals with little to no mention of exercise. The program slowly weans you off pre-packaged meals and introduces meal preparation with the help of a Jenny Craig counselor. I have the same problem with the Jenny Craig program that I have with Weight Watchers The program leaves you dependant upon the company and the participant with little knowledge of how to eat nutritionally sound. Further more, the Jenny Craig program is based on 1200 calorie consumption, wow, with slight alteration depending on sex, age...etc. Ok, just a side note anytime you see a diet that has lower than 1500 calories your almost certain to be in a calorie deprivation bout and a slowed metabolism.

Conclusion

The Jenny Craig diet may have helped some people but really it's just good marketing endorsed by celebrities. Oh, have you seen those adds with Kristie, I don't know about you but every time I see her she looks fatter. I don't think Jenny Craig has bad intentions but if you're looking for permanent weight loss, I suggest you skip this one. Look for a weight loss program that has synergy, that's the only solution. Why not look into my 28 day body makeover and start your weight loss journey.

Curves?

I was at the bank the other day cashing a cheque and the bank teller happened to notice that my cheque had something to do with fitness. She asked me what I do, I told her I help people get fit and healthy. She told me she went to curves. I said oh, great, are you seeing results? She told me well no, but it's probably because of my eating. She asked me to help her, so I told her I'd send her some info and she gave me her email address. Another women I've counseled was attending Curves prior to our consultation. She told me she lost some weight in the beginning and has been at a plateau ever since. She told me that she goes to Curves for 30 minutes a few times a week, the buzzer goes off she goes to an exercise machine, the buzzer goes off again and then she switches. She then said they try to sell her supplements to guarantee the weight loss....hmmmmm. This lady wasn't putting down Curves she was just frustrated because she wasn't seeing a result. Ok, so I've just told you about a few examples out of many where women attending Curves did not see a fitness result. Does that mean you cannot obtain results attending Curves, certainly not. I'm sure their are many females who are happy at Curves but what I want to know is does it work? Does it brings results?

About Curves

Well, here's what I know about Curves. The founder of Curves, Gary Heavin, dropped out of pre-med and took on the challenge of operating a health club. After 5 years he had opened up 7 more health clubs but unfortunately, lost it all. He then decided to rebuild his business chain but applying his many lessons of success and learning from his failures. He came up with a 30-minute program that includes strength training, weight loss help and the support and help of other women in the community. Curves has been very successful in marketing and has opened some 9,000 locations with over a million members.

The Problem with Curves

I'm not here to badger Curves and by all means if it's working for you fantastic. I wish you all the best and continued success. I certainly have nothing derogatory to say about the franchise. The only thing I would like to point out is synergy. A concern for muscle, good nutrition and a moderate amount of aerobics, something that a previous member admitted to lacking and without synergy results are impossible. This could have been an isolated case and perhaps she had the right information and didn't do her part. Certainly one can gain results with a 30 minute workout. I have a 20 min workout that I have people do and see results. The secret is not in the location of the facility you attend the secret is synergy. Is Curves applying synergy? From what I've heard, I don't think so. Could Curves play a part in obtaining a fitness or health result, absolutely.

Conclusion

You can workout anywhere but the only thing that will bring you a permanent fitness result is synergy, the dynamic 3, if your current facility applies this exercise technology than you're very fortunate. If not, you need to find a facility that does. Only than will you have permanent results in health and fitness.

Eating for Christmas and not blowing it!

Hey there, It's Christmas eve and I just had some thoughts on eating and preparing myself not to blow it as I've had too many cheat days. Ok, so here's the deal just remember this when you're eating- starchy carb, fibrous carb and lean protein at every meal, that's it! So when you sit down to eat amongst all the choices you have from Mom & Dad's dinner table remember to have complete meals (synergy). For example, lean protein would be the turkey, starchy carb would be potatoes or rice (hopefully it's brown rice or some other natural form) and broccoli would be the fibrous carb.

Eating for Christmas and not blowing it

Now rather than having an how much can I eat in one sitting contest try to eat every 3 to 3 1/2 hours with meals comprised of, again I reiterate, a lean protein a starchy carb and a fibrous carb at every meal. That's it! It's really that simple.

Eating desert and other Christmas treats like Egg Nog

Ok, now when you want some egg nog, cheese cake or whatever you fancy have it with your complete meal the protein you eat and the fibrous carb will slow the release of glucose into the blood stream from your sugary dessert and you won't reak havoc on your fat loss goals.

If you're new to my articles and you don't get the synergy thing read fitness survival guide!

Merry Christmas and happy New Year!

Weight Watchers?

Weight Watchers has been around for a long time, they use a point system that teaches you how to make good food choices. Weight Watchers has a few good things going, they encourage, about six meals at regular intervals. They encourage good food combinations, lean proteins, starchy carbohydrates and fibrous carbohydrates but when you break it all down behind all the points it's still calorie deprivation. The women involved in Weight Watchers still return time and again to gather around the scale to see if they lost any weight. They offer each other moral support and celebrate the loss of a few pounds. I haven't seen Weight Watchers to be a permanent solution for weight loss, in fact if you visit the what's new section of my website you'll find a settlement document from FTC regarding Weight Watchers and fraudulent claims. You know, I disagree with the whole point system and here's why. I counseled this lady on nutrition and I was trying to educate her on food and making good choices but all she kept on talking about are theses points. She was unable to make good food choices without her reference to points. She didn't really understand what she was doing when it came to eating. She didn't understand how to combine a simple meal without the point system she was somewhat dependant on Weight Watchers.....hmmm does the giant weight loss chain foster an environment of dependency. I don't think Weight Watchers is all that bad, meaning I don't cringe in my seat when someone says I'm on the Weight Watchers program. I just fail to see Weight Watchers as a permanent weight loss solution. Calorie deprivation leads to a slowed metabolism and a slowed metabolism perpetuates weight gain. If you participated in the Weight Watchers program and managed to keep the weight off, fantastic, but the only thing that will bring permanent weight loss is synergy. Good nutrition, a concern for muscle and a moderate amount of aerobics.

Weight Watchers history

Back in the early 60's, Weight Watchers founder Jean Nidetch began inviting friends into her Queens home once a week, to discuss how best to lose weight. Today, that group of friends has grown to millions of women and men around the world who use the products and services of Weight Watchers to lose unwanted pounds. Weight Watchers has been around for over 40 years. In the early Weight Watchers program the diet was marketed as a lifestyle change claiming that you can eat anything, proteins, fats, carbohydrates, sugar, as long as you follow the point system although it was still calorie deprivation it wasn't as drastic as other diets. The new Weight Watchers program has since modified their approach, perhaps making it a little better but dieters participating in the program still fail to see a permanent pay off.

The Point System

To understand the point system let's first look at the origin of the point system. When Weight Watchers first began it created an "exchange" system you were allotted a certain number of fruit exchange, a certain number of bread exchange and so on per day. The exchanges were based on portion control that limited the amount of calories one ingested daily. The program still encouraged you to eat real food. The Weight Watchers program grew in popularity and they decided to introduce weight watchers foods to increase profit margins. Now you were paying for support as well as food. The exchange system allowed for snacking as well as long as you met the daily exchange requirement. The exchange system has since been replaced with "points", the same concept. Every food item is now given a certain number of points based on it's protein, fat, fiber content and so on. There are different programs you can choose from within the point system, so you can choose which point system will work for you.

Conclusion

Weight Watchers sees approximately 600,000 people per week, that being said if this was a permanent weight loss solution we would have seen a dent in our obesity percentage. The fact of the matter is the premise of Weight Watchers is still based on calorie restriction, which leads to a slowed metabolism. Weight Watchers may have helped some people but the majority of it's customers are repeat business. People who blamed themselves because they felt they couldn't stick to the diet, but nobody can stick to a deprivation diet because your body is intelligent and will force you to eat food for it's survival. Like I said before I don't cringe at the mention of Weight Watchers but I'm failing to see their point system as a long term solution. The only solution Ladies and gentlemen is synergy.

Fitness Survival Guide For 2008!

Have you ever prepared meat and separated the giggly fat from that piece of steak or chicken, now imagine trying to mold that fat into a specific shape…maybe a star or how about a box. Did it stay intact? Were you able to keep the shape for very long? I know this sounds crazy, but the number of people I meet on the gym floor trying to tone up only using aerobics/cardio as their exercise method is outrageous….listen you can’t TONE, SCULPT, SHAPE FAT, you can only tone and sculpt lean muscle tissue. OK, let’s get down to business. The reason why people don’t get results is because they have the wrong information. In this article I’ll primarily address weight loss, since it’s the number one concern for most people. The three components you need to loose weight are 1) good nutrition (supportive eating), 2) aerobics (cardio), 3) resistance training (concern for muscle). NOTE: RESISTANCE TRAINING ALWAYS COMES BEFORE CARDIO I’LL EXPLAIN IN LATER. If you’re going to spend money hiring a personal trainer and your idea of good nutrition is wings and beer or KFC and Wendy’s you’re wasting your money. Now lets look at these three components separately.

Eat to lose weight

There are two things we are trying to support here metabolism and lean muscle tissue. Did you know that bodybuilders eat up to eight times in a day? The reason is because the more you eat the better your metabolic breakdown, in other words the better you burn food (calories) baby! Well I bet your asking how do I eat to loose weight? I’ll encourage you to eat six moderate size meals a day or every 3-3 ½ hours…sure that’s easy think in terms of breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack. Try that for starters. Most Importantly all meals should be comprised of Lean Protein, Starchy Carbohydrate and Fibrous Carbohydrate. Just like any change, at first it won’t be easy but once you get the hang of it you’ll love your new energy level and lean body (with the other two components), oh and need I mention stay away from Simple Sugar, Refined Flour, Processed Food. Food should be as natural as possible, free from Hydrogenated fat, low or free from Saturated Fat. I assume now you’re wondering what is a lean protein, starchy carb, and fibrous carb.

LEAN PROTIENS:

Chicken Breast
Turkey Breast
Most Fish Filets
Tuna Fish
Shell Fish
Egg Whites

Starchy Carbohydrates:

Potato
Sweet Potato
Brown Rice
Oatmeal
Whole Grains

Fibrous Carbohydrates:

Broccoli
Cauliflower
Mushrooms
Peppers
Onions
Asparagus
Sample Meals

Morning Meals:

Egg white omelet with onions green peppers and tomato served with whole wheat bread or pita. Bowl of oatmeal and Tuna sandwich on whole wheat bread with salad.

Afternoon Meals:

Slice turkey breast on whole grain pita with tomato, onion, sprouts. Beef burrito with whole grain wrap including brown rice tomato onions and peppers.

Evening Meals:

Chicken breast, served with baked potato and broccoli.
Protein shake and green salad.
Remember to do the best you can until you get the hang of it, meal replacement drinks and protein shakes will also come in handy, oh and just so you have no excuse I’ll even tell you what you can buy at the Supermarket.

Going Shopping

Buy lean proteins in the meat, dairy and seafood departments. Consider fish filets, tuna, ground turkey breast, flank steak, eggs, and egg whites in containers, fat free plain yogurt, and fat free cottage cheese. Buy starchy carbs and fibrous carbs in produce department. Think of fibrous carbs as all those green leafy vegetables including carrots, mushrooms, spinach, onions, red cabbage and cauliflower. Starches also include corn and peas; I’ve already mentioned potatoes. Add to your shopping cart some brown rice and whole wheat pasta frozen mixed veggies, frozen shrimp, frozen hash browns and don’t forget to grab some bottled water on your way out. (Daily you’ll need .55 ounces of water for every pound of bodyweight). Then quickly stop by your neighborhood health food store; grab some meal replacement and protein powder. That’s it you’re done!

Exercise Routine

Now I’ll quickly cover resistance training and cardio. Most people can only work out three times a week so let’s start there. You want a challenging workout routine and since you’re only working out three times I suggest a full body workout that can be done in about 40-45min so you have enough time to follow it up with cardio for another 15-20min. The reason why I’ll advise you to do resistance training before aerobics/cardio is because when doing aerobics your body has two choices of energy glucose/glycogen (glycogen is stored glucose) or fat energy, preferably your body will use glucose/glycogen. When doing resistance training your body only has one method of energy it will use glucose/glycogen. If you do your aerobic exercise first you run the risk of using up all your fuel (glucose). Now when you move to your resistance training you have no fuel since you’ve already used it doing aerobics, as a result your body will look for other means of energy and break a part muscle tissue using amino acids as an energy form. End result you loose muscle.

There you have it the dynamic three components for weight loss of course I could of elaborated a little more on resistance training and aerobics but hey that’s what you buy sessions for….just kidding I will cover other juicy topics in other articles as always if you have any questions regarding fitness health and wellness don’t hesitate to call (519) 743-4949 this is my private line where you could ask me any question you wish. Don’t be a victim of wrong information, there’s a lot of gimmicks out there, empowerment and truth is the key to long lasting health and fitness.
