Nutrisystem?

Have you seen those new Nutrisystem commercials? Well the long time bankrupt company is back to sell you more pre-packaged frozen food. You know, "Pizza, lasagna, chocolate is not off limits"...they kinda make it seem like you can eat anything skip the exercise and still lose weight.

The ads are pretty misleading, firstly, you can't just eat anything because all calories are not equal and will have different effects on your body. We could use the analogy of a car and the effects the different types of gasoline would have on the engine. We know that premium gasoline, unleaded or diesel would all have different effects on how our car operates even though they're all still gas. It's the same thing with our bodies calories from pizza and chocolate would have a different effect on our system than calories from a synergistic meal.

Nutrisystem Explained

Ok, back to Nutrisystem..... is it good? Well it's a calorie reduced diet that basically follows the food guide pyramid( 60% carbs, 20% fat, 20% protein), that's ok...I guess. It's frozen food so it probably has preservatives and chemicals to keep it fresh longer. There's not much emphasis on exercise and you don't learn anything from being on this program. So, if you can't afford their frozen food which will run you about $300-$400 a month then your screwed.... it's tough for dieters to make the transition back to a frozen food free life.

The meals you receive are also not supportive....meaning they're not boosting your metabolism like a good synergistic meal comprised of a lean protein, starchy carbohydrate, fibrous carbohydrate would be.

Conclusion
My advice would be don't get taken in by the commercials and the clever marketing. Dieting alone is not the solution to weight loss, we're still missing the other two components you need to lose weight which are moderate cardio and a concern for muscle. Nutrisystem is nothing more than calorie deprivation packaged in a frozen container. I think you should just skip this one get educated and empowered about what to eat and combine it with exercise and cardio and you'll be much better off.
